The
Snow Busters Tour part 2
Dear Friends,
The ‘snow buster’s
tour’ started off with a bang! On my arrival in Mumbai (Bombay) back
in November the terrorist attacks had just started. I came out of
the airport to find police and army vehicles everywhere some how I managed
to get a taxi to take me to where I would be staying. The person meeting
me was not able to get to the airport as the roads were all closed .So
it was Incredible that got to where I was staying. As I waited for
others to arrive to join me for the International Leaders School, I visited
a local restaurant. Whilst eating my curry, there were loud bangs and suddenly
the street was deserted, doors were locked and shutters came down at the
restaurant. It was a lock in! As I sat there I thought of the fun and the
adventures I had had over the years in serving the Lord Jesus. At least
I was locked in with a curry!!
Fortunately
as you know things were soon brought under control but a lot of lives were
lost. It was another reminder of the uncertainties of this life and how
important it is to make Jesus known.
Nasik, India
From Mumbai
with a team of people made up from the USA, Canada, Australia, Scotland
and the UK, we took off on a 5 hour road journey to the ‘city of pilgrimage’.
It is a remarkable how quickly a group of people gel into a team. The only
person I knew was John Bootsma from Canada which was great to renew fellowship
with him. For the next week we ministered to leaders mainly from
the New Life Fellowship of Churches. Over 100 were in attendance for the
week, it was great to see how the Holy Spirit ministered healing, forgiveness
and restoration into lives! I am always amazed at the effect that teaching
on the power of forgiveness has. It is fantastic to see people who have
been hurt ‘getting off the hook’ that was in their life.
Through out
the week it was so good to see Indian people, normally reserved and private
opening up for ministry. Many confessed sin and found deliverance
and forgiveness through the power of Jesus. Others found freedom in a whole
range of areas as the Holy Spirit impacted their lives.
The impact
of these Leaders schools is fantastic as congregations will also experience
the blessing of leaders freed up to live as sons of God. I know from my
own experience in the past how easy it is to slip into a duty mentality.
Living in the freedom purchased for us by Jesus is a lot more fun and it
is strife free.
As the
week drew to a end it was fantastic to hear testimonies of renewed faith
and vision, confidence in hearing Gods voice, freedom from sin ,
sickness, curses and a greater deeper love for Jesus. All these things
make these weeks for leaders a great worthwhile experience.
So from India
in early December I flew into the Arabian Gulf for Phase 2 of the Snow
Busters Tour!
The Arabian Gulf
Ministering
in the Gulf is always a delight for me. I love to minister amongst the
Nepalese, Filipino, and Indian believers. There is now also a growing group
from many African Nations and believers from Indonesia. Add to this various
Europeans and others from the USA and Canada and your truly have a gathering
of the Nations in one place. I had a day with various leaders
from the Nepalese group. These people are such a gentle group, I love being
with them and ministering to them. The Holy Spirit was very evident in
the gathering and many lives were touched by the power of God.
Christmas in the
Sun
In all I spent
over 4 weeks in the Gulf. Christine and our son Jonathan joined me on December
16th which meant we had Christmas in the sunshine of 24 degrees! We even
saw Father Christmas on a camel! The Church in the Gulf is going
through change, there are now 5 services on Friday (Friday is Sunday in
the Gulf!) This is because of the numbers and the changes make for more
growth.
The church
has also been a real source of blessing to us as they have been a financial
support to us to help with our missions work. From there others have been
sent to Bible school, churches have been built, they truly are a missions
church.
Many of the
workers particularly the Nepalese, Filipino and Indian labourers have a
difficult time. Many are treated harshly and unfairly. Many come to Christ
at this time due to the witness of others. I really do enjoy my time of
ministry there seeing God move and impact lives. Christine and Jonathan
both enjoyed ministering to various groups of people from different nations.
Powerful Testimonies
Whilst there
you hear some staggering testimonies, one man in particular, a Filipino
was a one time member of notorious gang. He told me of his many crimes
he had been involved in. On top of that he had been selling and using drugs.
His back ground was from an abusive family. One day he met a gang leader
who was different, he found out the man had met the Lord Jesus whilst in
prison. The result was the Filipino gave his life to Jesus and knew his
transforming power. He is now being used to win others to Jesus.
Another man
I met was from Wigan in England he told me how he found it funny that he
became a Christian in a Muslin country! His testimony is like that of many
who go and work in the Arabian Gulf states and find faith in Jesus.
During our
time in the “land of sand “we saw many give their lives to Jesus for the
first time including some from China. It is encouraging to know that no
law or human restrictions can stop the power of God working.
Thank you for
partnering with us as we continue to make Jesus Last command our first
concern.
At present
Christine, Jonathan and I are returning to the UK from India. We were joined
in India by Kerstin Obermann a friend from our home Church.
We firstly were ministering near Hyderabad then we flew to Mumbai Then
on to Goa. We have seen many people in India come to Christ, others
healed, set free and many, many encouraged in the things of God. Next month
there will be the last instalment of “The Snow Busters tour” to report.
Please continue
to pray for us as we return to England that as we begin home hunting that
we will be led to the right place at the right price.
We pray this
year will be a year of increase in knowing the Lord and making Him known
for all of you.
